 71-Series Blowers:

When pioneers like Gene Mooneyham first began adapting GMC 71-series blowers to racing applications it was a relatively easy task to decide what size to use: nearly everyone chose a 6-71 blower. This was mainly due to the fact that the old iron-block engines used throughout the early days of racing couldn't handle too much combustion
 pressure without losing cylinder walls.

With the advent of the aftermarket aluminum block racing engines (equipped with replaceable cylinder sleeves), engine builders quickly discovered that they could use more boost, and the 8-71 became popular. The trend to larger displacement superchargers continued with 10-71, 12-71, 14-71, and even 16-71 size blowers being used.
Of course, size alone is not the sole criteria for determining which blower is best suited for any particular application. There are other factors to consider, such as rotor speed, clearances, and other internal modifications. Is a "tight" smaller blower better than a "loose" larger one? Or is it the other way around?
Because of these and other variables (such as engine displacement and compression, type of fuel burned, fuel system, application, etc.) it is recommended that you contact Mooneyham directly to determine which model blower and type of setup is best suited for your particular combination. Whatever you need, Mooneyham has it!

Reconditioned Blowers

In addition to brand new competition models, Mooneyham also makes a wide variety of blowers for nostalgia and marine use, including reconditioned blowers of all sizes. Please call for details on availability and prices.

Aluminum or Magnesium... The Choice is Yours

There are advantages and disadvantages to both aluminum or magnesium blowers. The most obvious difference is the fact that a mag case is approximately 35% lighter than a comparable aluminum case. And for the racer whose objective is to field the absolute lightest possible vehicle, mag is the answer. However, experience has shown that the metallurgical properties of aluminum cases are such that they are less affected by heat and accordingly provide
better long term consistency and reliability.

Manifold Stud Kit

Regulation solid 6061-T6 aluminum studs. Can come in polished, grade 8, or black anodized finish.

Mooneyham Manifolds

Following many years of extensive research and development, Mooneyham has created the "ultimate" blower manifold for the big block Chevrolet. Because of this built-in diverter, the incoming air/fuel mixture is distributed more efficiently to the port runners. these manifolds are designed to be very strong and do not lose shape when tightened down. Manifolds are available in high quality aluminum only, in a standard or polished finish. Manifolds are available for small block, big block, as well as tall deck applications and accommodate 6-71 and larger superchargers.

Blower Intake Adapters

Mooneyham has everything you need to adapt the intake system of your choice to a blower, ranging from
carburetors to injectors. They include
:

-Dual 4500 series carburetors to a 71-series opening
-Dual 4150 series carburetors to a 71-series opening
-Regular fuel injection systems to a 71-series opening
-Single 4150 series carburetors

Carburetor Linkage Kit

Here's virtually everything you need to properly operate dual 4-barrel carburetors on a blower. The kit contains black anodized aluminum mounting brackets, rod ends, fully adjustable linkage, and all necessary hardware. Detailed instructions included. -Counterweighted hub for use with externally balanced 454
 Chevy and large Mooneyham blower.
-Counterweighted hub for use with externally balanced 454
 Chevy and standard length blower.
-Two-key hub for use with large-type blower
-Two-key hub for use with standard length blower

Remote Thermostat Housing

Facilitates hook-up of automotive or marine cooling systems to blower manifolds. Accepts OEM-type water neck
and thermostat, with pipe fitting side exits. Complete with threaded mounting bosses on back side.
Beautiful polished aluminum finish.

Pulley Spacers

Proper positioning of the blower belt can easily be accomplished through the use of these special pulley spacers. They are precision machined out of durable 6061-T6 aluminum alloy and hard anodized. Available in three increments.

-Pulley spacer (.460" thick) to move bottom pulley out when
Mooneyham 8-71 or larger blower used.
-Pulley spacer (.625" thick) to move top pulley out when Weiand
manifold is used with Cragar blower drive
-Pulley spacer (.700" thick) to move top pulley out when Mooneyham big blower with short drive
snout is used on 426/KB or use on top pulley when accessory v-belt pulley is quizzed on bottom.

Mooneyham Bearing Cover

Replace your tired and worn out bearing plate with a new machined and polished plate from Mooneyham.

Water Pump Adapter
